Here it is, the follow-up to my successfully kickstarted book: The PlayStation Vita: Year One. To summarise the premise, its an unofficial look back at the events of the Vita’s 2nd and 3rd years on the market and retrospectives on a selection of its biggest games.

KICKSTARTED Live Now!

This book will be the second in a series of three books that cover the entire history of the Vita’s life. The first book covered the highs and lows of the Vita’s launch and first year on the market. This book will cover the 2nd and 3rd years which was an interesting period in the life of the Vita. Sony was transitioning its focus to the PS4 but they were still innovating with the Vita with the release of new hardware and services and launching big games for the system (including Freedom Wars and Tearaway). The book will cover the big events for the Vita during 2013 and 2014, it will include retrospectives on some of the biggest games launched during the period and showcase PS One and PSP games playable on the Vita.

I was thrilled and humbled by the support I received for the first book. The feedback was extremely positive and that motivated me to get started on the second book pretty much as soon as I had posted out the copies of the first! There is so much more to the story of the Vita than I could tell in the first book. At one point I had considered writing a book for each year of the system’s life, but after consideration I landed on making it a series of three books:

  • PS Vita: Year One - the launch and first year on the market.

  • PS Vita: Years Two & Three - covering 2013 and 2014, when Sony was still investing in the Vita with a system redesign and new games.

  • PS Vita: The End - 2015 onwards, as the Vita slowly lost more and more services but the Vita community continued to support the device and the games kept coming.

The physical book will be A5 size and 104 pages long. The game retrospectives will include:

  • Killzone mercenary

  • Tearaway

  • Soul Sacrifice

  • Danganronpa and Danganronpa 2

  • Freedom wars

  • Dragons Crown

  • Muramasa

  • Guacamelee

  • Fez

  • Rogue Legacy

  • Borderlands 2

  • And more!
